The Eye of the World (Robert Jordan)

Okay no spoilers because I am only on book six but it’s been excellent so far.

I know he died before finishing it but my brother, who finished the series and insisted I start reading it, claimed Brando Sando did a pretty good job with the wrap up. So even though I am not a huge fan of his, read mistborn felt meh to me - probably try way of kings at some point, I figured I would give it a try.

I have reallllyyy enjoyed it so far. It’s one of the most complete stories I have ever read. The depth is insane really. The lore is endless. Sometimes something is mentioned and I’m like will we ever hear of that again or is that just a mystery and a people we will never know. Could go either way. I’m in book 6 and it is only just now starting to drop little hints that this is maybe a more simplistic world than the more modern world that previously existed thousands of years before.

I also really like that though there are love interests there is so little time for it that there isn’t much gory detail. Like yes our souls are clearly calling to each other but by god man we are in a war for the survival of humanity. I’m not any romance I just hate when it’s leaned on too much in a story. In real life even when you have a great love you aren’t like let me obsess over you every second of every day for eternity. Even soulmates have responsibilities.

I’ll keep you posted if the ending disappoints but I doubt it.
